Basement stained glass can give your home a unique style.

Basement stained glass can give your home a unique style.

Have you ever walked into a restaurant, business, or home that had a special piece of custom art? If you have, it may have left more of a lasting impression on you than anything else about the place did. If you have a finished basement, or you are about to renovate your basement, do not underestimate the power of art – stained glass art – to make it into something completely out of the ordinary.

Of course, here at Stained Glass Austin, we are perfectly happy installing our custom stained glass windows in any room of your home, from entryway to attic. But there are several reasons why we feel so strongly about basement stained glass.

First of all, frequently basements have those ugly little windows that are barely above ground and hardly let in any light, but do let in a view of a window guard or bottom of a shrub. And if you are spending good money to have a playroom, an office, an entertainment or media room, or an extra bedroom built in your basement, what a shame to let those ugly windows ruin the overall effect.

You’ve got a lovely Persian rug, some sharp, modern lighting, and you’ve even built a gorgeous hardwood bar. It all works . . . except there’s nothing you can do about the windows. Adding basement stained glass is the perfect, elegant, and not very expensive solution. They won’t block the light, just the ugly view. And they will replace it with something that will turn the whole basement into a place that is as lovely and as carefully decorated as every other room in your house.

What if you have a walkout basement with a sliding glass door? Carry on the theme with matching stained glass installed on the doors. And how about that aforementioned hardwood bar? Could you see a colorful stained glass panel installed as a backdrop behind it, giving it the feel of that Irish bar downtown you’ve always admired?

As you can see, there are various ways to include basement stained glass and various reasons why it’s a great idea. By installing a custom designed stained glass piece, you can have something unique and utterly memorable in your own home.

Now, many people are intimidated by buying art. They really have no idea if it’s any good. They don’t trust their own tastes. But what about collaborating on a piece of custom designed basement stained glass art with a stained glass expert?

Now, that’s a whole different story, isn’t it?
